Introduction
We’re looking forward to an exciting 2009. In spite of the current economic situation we’re actually seeing an increase in both projects to bid and projects we’ve won. We will be releasing several new technical applications early in 2009 designed to speed training development and increase effectiveness. As beta versions are released we’ll announce them here. The AutoMARK is a machine which is used to aid voters with vision disabilities. The voter (alone or with the help of an election judge) inserts the paper ballot into the AutoMARK. The then gives the voter several options on how to “read” the ballot choices. The text can be enlarged and displayed on the AutoMARK screen, the text can be displayed in a high-contract mode, or the ballot can be read to the voter with a digital “voice”. The voter uses AutoMARK controls to make their selections and when they are complete, AutoMARK will mark the voter’s ballot for them. The ballot is then ejected from the machine and the voter deposits the paper ballot as is the custom in their precinct. Every polling place in Minnesota is equipped with an AutoMARK machine and is an example of how our Secretary of State is working to make sure everyone has the opportunity to participate in the election process.
